Macedonia had a clear advantage during the whole match, but if we judge according the match results, the difference was not as significant as it seemed. It is interesting to note that 20 goals out of 32 were scored by two players, Nenad Kostevski and Martin Serafimov. Kostenko left the court with 11 goals to his name, whereas Serafimov, who was named the best player among his teammates, scored 9 goals. Eimantas Sinkevicius became the best player with 6 goals. Central back Tomas Valentukevicius scored more goals than Sinkevicius,
Lithuania were able to equalise the score several times during the first half. In the second half, the only thing they managed to do, was decreasing the gap to one.
Nicola Matlieski (Macedonia, assistant coach) We won, it was a tough game, in the first half we played a little bit better and i think that is the main reason for our victory. From 20 to 30 minutes we had a six goal difference, in the beginning of the second half we made some technical mistakes but at the end it was victory for our team
Andriuska Mindaugas (Lithuania, Head coach) We lost the game, because of some stupid mistakes that we shouldn’t have made. We lost too many balls and the opponent scored 6-7 goals in the first half. We had that phase when we couldn’t score and that’s why we lost, so we will work on it
