Dear Handball Friends, Following the successful organisation of the Men’s 18 EHF Championship in 2016, the European Handball Federation is excited to return to Georgia for another Younger Age Category Championship. The City of Tbilisi in Georgia will be the host to the Men’s EHF Championship in 2018 with the Olympic Handball Arena.
The 2018 EHF Men’s Championship will be held as two tournaments hosted by the Handball Federations of Georgia and Austria. Twenty-three national team delegations drawn across the two regions will now have their chance to compete and maybe earn a place on the winners’ podium. The Younger Age Category events of the European Handball Federation remain notable highlights of the handball summer period where we have the opportunity to witness the development of these young players over time. Once again, this is their moment to shine as they take to the court. Following the conclusion of this event; the first ranked team from the event in Tbilisi, Georgia and the first ranked team from the event in Tulln, Austria will be eligible to play in the EHF Men’s 20 EURO in 2020.
From 10 to 19 August 2018, the eleven national teams of Belarus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYR Macedonia and Switzerland will play their thirty-five matches of the EHF Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia.
On behalf of the European Handball Federation, I sincerely thank the Organising Committee for its commitment to youth handball and for the arrangement of the EHF Men’s 18 Championship. To the teams commanding on the court and the fans ready to fill the 3500 seats here in the Olympic Handball Arena, I wish you an unforgettable event; welcome to Tbilisi!
The teams are ready, and in the spirit of fair play, I wish them the very best of luck!
